The First Hope staff is dedicated to learning about how to identify individuals in the early phase of psychosis in the hope of delaying or preventing psychosis in individuals at clinical high risk. We have a multi-discipline team dedicated to helping our clients through their most difficult times.

Phyllis Mace, LMFT
Acting Program Supervisor
I am a marriage and Family Therapist and have been a therapist for 28 years. I love to take vacations that are adventurous. My favorites have been hiking the Grand Canyon and Alaskan National Parks and traveling thoughout South East Asia. I love leading and being a part of the First Hope Team.
Vasanta Giri, MD
Child Psychiatrist
I received my medical degree from Bombay University, India. My psychiatry training was completed at the University of New Mexico, and my child psychiatry fellowship at Napa State Hospital. I have been practicing psychiatry for over thirty years with people of all ages.
Guy Macpherson, Ph.D
Mental Health Clinical Specialist
I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a special focus on trauma and have been working in a variety of settings in the mental health field for the past 5 years. What draws me to this field is the opportunity to help individuals overcome hardship so that they can learn to thrive. I love cooking, eating, travelling, and spending time with my family.
Gabriella Galucci, MFTI

My friends call me Gabby. I have been working in Mental Health for about twenty years and I love what I do. I have been working mostly with the Spanish speaking community on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and trauma in diverse settings. During my free time I enjoy going to the Ranch and spend time with taking care of horses.

I have a Master's in Counseling with a specialization in Marriage Family and Child Counseling and an emphasis in Rehabilitation. I enjoy traveling, dancing, music and cuddling with my dog.

Alishia Abbott

I have an Associate of Science degree in Health Information Management and I plan on pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in the near future. I absolutely love working with the First Hope team everyone cares about our clients and the services we provide. I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, traveling and volunteering in the community.

Nancy Ebbert, MD
Lead Psychiatrist

I am a Board-certified psychiatrist, a graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine and the Adult Psychiatry residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. I have spent most of my career in public psychiatry with a devotion to improving care for those suffering from severe mental illness and promoting system innovation to deliver humane, recovery oriented treatment. I have been interested in early intervention in psychosis for many years as the best means to offer a bright future to young people with early symptoms, and am delighted to be part of the First Hope team! I love my work, our team and the mission of First Hope.

I am a graduate of UC Berkeley, School Social Welfare and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked with youth and families in Contra Costa County for over thirteen years and love being a social worker. I am a strong believer that service to others, respecting differences, and sharing our talents promotes healthier communities and individuals. First Hope is a place that supports these values and it’s exciting to be a part of the team. When I’m not at work I like to spend time with family and friends, listen to music, work on my house, and travel.
Esteban Quintana, MFTI

I was born in Mexico and enjoy sharing my roots with the communities I serve. I have called the Bay Area my home for the past 20 years now. I graduated with a M.A. from John F. Kennedy University and have been working for the past 8 years with adults, families and children. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. I am excited to be part of the team at First Hope, where the diversity of backgrounds and experience come together to serve our clients with the highest degree of care. When I am not working I like reading, and hiking among other outdoor activities. Our purpose is to partner up with you to keep hope alive.

Victoria Howard-Yarber, OT/L
Occupational Therapist
I have a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University and have been working with adults, adolescents, and children in both acute in-patient and out-patient psychiatric settings for 17 years. At First Hope I provide assessments to identify participants strengths and difficulties to improve overall function at home, school and work. I love gardening, socializing with friends and am active with animal rescues.
